AFRICAN AMERICAN by Rishard Carr (11 yrs. old)
[Rosa Parks Verse
This is for my people that was ridin in the streets,
dying in the streets for people like you and me.
Rosa Parks sat in the front of the bus til the white bus driver
said that she must, give up her seat to a white man and thats
when the fighting all began. She said no sir my feet really hurt,
I walk from here, to work I do this in a way,I do this every day
Just so I can get my equal pay.He asked her again and again and again, he
said go back there and join your black friends.Once again she
said no, don’t treat me like trash cause I’m not white as snow.
He called the police and they came in a hurry, everbody on the
bus started to worry, except for Rosa she sat there quietly,
humming to her self as if she were a bee.The police came in
and stood Rosa up,around her wrist they put handcuffs. They
took her off the bus they took her away, and Rosa Parks went
to jail that day.
