Freedom Verse Cafe (FVC) was born in the winter of 2008 from a show called Mic Check which was created in the fall of 2007. Since this show's inception it has been improved upon and has gone through evolutionary phases to better accomplish the mission it was created for which is to promote the art form of spoken word poetry. FVC promotes the artists—who hit the stages, spoken word houses, and sell the CDs anywhere they can—while entertaining and educating listeners all over the world on this progressing and ever-growing art.

Freedom Verse Café is an online radio broadcast that focuses on providing a positive form of entertainment and educational programming that opens the listener's eye, mind, and ears to the works of artist who are destined to change the world "one word at a time”. In FVC we focus more on the art and its impact while recognizing the artist. In this we learn to appreciate the creativity, relevancy, and intentions of the artist rather than who the artist is. My belief is in letting the art speak for itself.
